Busch Gardens Williamsburg is one of the most beloved theme parks in the world and has won numerous awards over the years including, Best Food, Cleanest Park, Best Shows, Most Beautiful, Best Landscaping and more. In 2006 and 2007 it was voted World’s Best Theme park by the Theme Park Insider Awards. It is little wonder why it has garnered such acclaim, as Bush Gardens Williamsburg has acted as a leader among parks for decades.
The park was opened in 1975 and was originally coined Busch Gardens: The Old Country, in reference to its old-world European theme. The park features a range of European-inspired villages, ranging from Scotland, France, England, Italy, Germany, and even Canada. (Known as “New France.”) You can travel between these areas of the park by way of the skyride gondola lift, or replica steam trains.

Of special interest to the animal lovers in your group, is Jack Hanna’s Wildlife Reserve, where you can observe a variety of wildlife, most notably endangered grey wolves and bald eagles. In the Highland Stables of Bush Gardens, visitors can get a taste for the fauna of Scotland, and view the skills of highly trained Clydesdale horses, border collies, Scottish Blackface sheep, and birds of prey.
A trip to Busch Gardens Williamsburg would not be complete without a trip to Da Vinci’s Garden of Inventions, wherein visitors will find Italian statues amidst rides inspired by Leonardo da Vinci’s own sketches. The cleverness of the park creators is seemingly endless, and visitors of any age are sure to find things to interest them.
